Madison is one of only two major US cities to be built on an isthmus! This stretch of land nestled between lakes Mendota and Monona hosts an active arts and cultural scene along with numerous options for drinking and dining. In addition to the sprawling University of Wisconsin Campus and the Capitol Building, you’ll find a wide range of architecture-from landmark historical buildings to luxurious high rise condominiums. Real estate here provides true Urban Living, with amenities being a short walk or ride away. A favorite hangout spot is the Memorial Union where the terrace offers live music and views of Lake Mendota. The Tornado Steakhouse is a classic supperclub with a retro lounge and tempting menu.

West Madison

Offers easy access to the University and downtown. West Side has a host of trails and parks, the largest being the UW Arboretum, housing over 1200 acres of restored ecosystems and horticultural collections. Residents enjoy the best of both worlds, having easy access to bike trails and parks as well as major shopping centers like Hilldale and West Town Mall. Whether you’re looking for a stately Tudor or a Mid Century ranch, several neighborhoods offer a myriad of classical styles. Yet new construction is offered further west, especially as technology, healthcare and bioscience companies continue to encourage growth. Dining options are plentiful, from chain restaurants to ethnic eateries. A unique favorite is Greenbush Bar. Located in the basement of the Italian Workman’s Club, this hidden gem offers up traditional Sicilian fare and some of the best pizza in town.

East Madison

An eclectic mix of people and homes makes for a fun and funky network of neighborhoods. Your real estate dollar generally will stretch further here, even in the trendiest of settings. Unique bars, eateries, galleries and locally owned businesses are found throughout. You’ll find connections to the Lake Monona Loop and Capital City Bike Trails here, offering easy commuting or leisurely riding. Green space abounds and a park can always be found in less than a 10 minute walk. Olbrich Park is one of the largest, lakefront with a biergarten and sunset views of the downtown skyline. Crema Cafe is our favorite hangout, offering friendly service and brunch every day.

Monona

A wooded community on the eastern shore of the second lake on the chain of lakes- Lake Monona, is land locked as it is surrounded by Madison. It offers its own school district that is shared with Cottage Grove Residents. Many parks including Dream Park in the heart of town that has a community pool, skate park, ball diamonds, shelter with entertainment, an ice skating lagoon and their annual fireworks. They also host a Memorial Day Parade which is the largest and longest in Wisconsin. The community keeps Fraboni’s Deli bustling, where you can enjoy specialty Italian foods to carry out or prepare at home.

Middleton

Called Hometown USA and home to the large Epic Corporation which has caused a boom to their economy and housing, they have invited growth yet still have maintained their small town charm. With several locally owned businesses as well as the larger chains, you’ll have all the amenities without a commute to Madison. Swim in the quarry at Fireman’s Park, hike or bike the Military Ridge Trail, or enjoy recreation of the slow flowing Sugar River. Miller & Son’s is an old tyme grocery store with a helpful staff that has been a local favorite for almost a 100 years.

Verona

Sun Prairie

The largest of all the suburbs is close to the Interstates and airport. New construction developments are prevalent, spurring the opening of a second high school. We sponsor the SPHS West Wolves Soccer Team, and anticipate a new rivalry. Has many conveniences including specialty shops in their historic downtown. Angell Park has a speedway for Sunday Night Races and more family fun can be found at the Annual Corn Fest. With an ambiance of a Wisco “dive bar” - Chicken Licks offers the best chicken wings in all of the area.

Fitchburg

Conveniently located to the south can be a short drive to downtown along with going east or west on the major travel artery in town - the Beltline. Residents attend Madison West, Verona, or Oregon schools depending on where they live. Numerous conveniences including many unique restaurants. Has the popular Capital City & Badger State Trails going through town. Expansive McKee Park hosts many festivities and has ample recreation facilities. Quivey’s Grove is a scenic historic estate with fieldstone mansion, and the tunnel to the bar house set among walnut groves is always popular for both events and intimate dinners.

McFarland

You are never far from water here as it is on the eastern shore of the third lake on the chain of Lakes - Lake Waubesa, along with the being on the north shore of lower Mud Lake. It offers the only curling facility in the area where many Olympians have competed and is next door to an Olympic size hockey rink. In the central district; historic buildings including a former train depot that now houses a café, plus an inviting library, along with a park where they have summer entertainment at the gazebo. Tee off at the new Orchard Hill disc golf course which meanders through apple groves and offers lake views from the 9th hole. Remodeled Angelo’s still retains the Hamm’s décor and offers wonderful Italian fare, especially pizza.

Cottage Grove

The location just off the interstate makes it a cinch to head east to Milwaukee. Residents are enrolled in the Monona School District though they still have their own elementary and middle schools. Glacial Drumlin Trail starts (or ends) here which offers 52 miles of smooth traveling. Look for this community to swell in size, as new industries are proposed which will spur job growth. Bakken Park houses a grand athletic complex, where we cheer on and sponsor the Wisconsin Rugby Team. The annual Fireman’s Fest makes this small town bustle every Father’s Day Weekend. Old Towne Coffee House is the place to start your day.

Stoughton

On the southwest shore of the fourth lake on the chain - Lake Kegonsa, this Norwegian influenced community offers a historic downtown that includes many family owned establishments along with the entertainment of a play theater, movie theater, and the restored Opera House. Every May hosts the Syttende Mai Celebration. Stately Victorian homes are fixtures throughout town. Mandt Park near downtown offers many activities from a swimming beach to a hockey rink. Main Street Kitchen has been serving up homemade meals and treats for over 30 years.

Oregon

A 15 minute drive south from downtown Madison, this community offers hometown hospitality. Real estate is diverse from historic downtown homes, modern subdivisions and the Bergamont & Foxboro golf course communities. Green spaces and parks abound, adding to the small town charm. Watch for the upcoming Sculpture Garden, where 250 year old trees will provide the backdrop for art installations and native gardens. Historic downtown ‘triangle’ offers numerous shops and restaurants all within walking distance. Firefly Coffeehouse is artsy and welcoming, serving local ingredients, small batch roasts and artisan cheese.

Mt Horeb

Where the troll is their trademark and you will see many scattered throughout town like lawn ornaments of many classic home styles in the center of town. More than a half hour to downtown Madison this community to the southwest is on the edge of the glacial driftless area where the hills become more rolling. Nods to Scandinavia are omnipresent, from brewpubs and buildings to festival fun. It offers a local ski hill, Tyrol Basin along with the beautiful wooded County Park, Stewart Lake. With a dozen taps and a menu that goes beyond standard pub fare, the Grumpy Troll is a popular brewery for locals and tourists.

Cross Plains

A close knit community with a laid back pace, is the gateway to the driftless region untouched by glaciers. Downtown has a mix of Craftsman and Victorian Residences, historic buildings, trendy shops and eateries. Trout fishing, hiking & biking are popular activities with abundant accessibility to the Ice Age Trail, parks & natural areas. Nearby Indian Lake offers over 700 acres, historic chapel & breathtaking views of the lake & surrounding valley. Millie’s Vintage and Thrift Emporium is a funky place to shop, with an ever changing inventory and 4,000 square feet of oddities and treasures.

Waunakee

Originally a farm community, this developing village retains its old world charm. The real estate options are diverse with options ranging from condominiums to expansive Parade of Home mansions.. Enjoy walking Main Street, exploring wineries & breweries, and traversing parks. We love Schumacher Park, a restored farmstead where you can walk rolling prairie trails and even catch a glimpse of the Capitol. DeForest

Dane County’s “North Star” is a 10 minute drive to Madison. Windsor is adjacent and shares enrollment in the Middle and High Schools. Explore the numerous parks & trails this growing community offers including one that hosts their annual fireworks display. We enjoy Token Creek County Park which features hiking, equestrian & cross country ski trails as well as numerous campsites & a disc golf course. Easy access to the Yahara River and a convenient commute to the interstate makes it easy to head to the northwoods/lake country. The Norske Nook is a yummy diner where they make their own pies.
